What is SAFE-b?
SAFE-b is an online business ratings seal
provider. To put it in simple terms, we sell a service which provides online
businesses with a ratings seal, similar to the SAFE-b logo at the top left
corner of this webpage. The ratings seal image can be displayed on any of our
client's websites, to provide their customers with some reassurance of the
safety and reliability of the company website that they are visiting. By
displaying the ratings seal on a website, the business is saying to all their
customers, "We care about your satisfaction, and we want you to know our
historical performance and how satisfied our previous customers have been, and
we care about your feedback".
About the SAFE-b Business Ratings Seal
The SAFE-b business ratings seal is a small
picture that can be placed onto a website. It is a "dynamic" picture which means
that it automatically updates itself anytime a business's rating changes,
without the need to update any code. The picture is always clickable wherever it
is found, which allows customers to rate the company where the seal is found.
The business ratings seal image is resizable via a resizing tool, so that SAFE-b
clients can resize their ratings seal image to fit their company website.
How ratings work
When a customer makes a purchase from a website
where the SAFE-b ratings seal is found, that customer should receive some form
of transaction number. SAFE-b also records this transaction number, using a
special web becon found on the last page of the checkout. Later, if the customer
wishes to leave feedback about their transaction, they can click on the SAFE-b
ratings seal image, which will take them to the company's profile page on
SAFE-b.com. They can then use their unique transaction number to post a public
rating of the company. If a user attempts to post a rating of a company using an
invalid transaction number, their comments will be emailed to the company, but
their rating will not have an effect on the company's reputation.
How the SAFE-b web beacon works
The SAFE-b web beacon is a small, transparent
1x1 pixel image that can be placed on the final page of the checkout process.
When the customer views the picture, it tracks their sale, records their IP
address, and enables them to leave feedback later. This web beacon is only
available to SAFE-b clients, and is one of several ways that SAFE-b clients can
send transaction data to SAFE-b.
